Celebrating Christmas in a Caravan

Celebrating Christmas in a Caravan
1st December 2015 Andy

While a white Christmas can be magical, some people prefer to take a break from shovelling driveways and thawing frozen fingers, to celebrate in the sun. More folks are spending the holidays in warmer destinations, like Tenerife, Costa del Sol, and the Greek islands, in the comfort of static caravans that offer all the trimmings of a modern house.

Also called mobile homes, they are equipped with the conveniences we have come to rely on at home. For example, the Willerby Winchester 2016 mobile home combines contemporary design with practical use of space and storage, giving the impression of a boutique hotel.

Imagine spending Christmas in a caravan like this.

On Christmas morning, as everyone opens their presents, take a moment to enjoy the sun streaming in through the generous French doors of your mobile home. You can still whip up a traditional home cooked dinner with the double oven cooker, and cosy up in front of the fire to catch some Christmas TV specials.

Or, if you prefer not to slave over the stove – relax, you’re on holiday! – why not dine out and sample the local fare? There are sure to be restaurants that are open and serving up festive feasts. Mingling with local residents could make your unique Christmas getaway even more memorable and exciting.

Decorating your mobile home

If you’re the type who loves decorating your home for Christmas, you’ll be pleased to know that a caravan can be decked out to your heart’s content. Trim the windows with tinsel, lights and baubles, or go all out to transform it into Santa’s Grotto, like in the photo below.

Holding out for a White Christmas?

You could be waiting awhile, depending on your definition of a ‘White Christmas’. The Met Office considers this to occur when a single snowflake falls during Christmas Day in a specific location.

By this definition, we have had 38 White Christmases in the past 54 years. However, a Dickensian White Christmas is much rarer – we’ve only had widespread snow across the UK four times in the last 51 years.

So, why stick around and wait for a White Christmas, when you could be relaxing in a luxurious mobile home, somewhere sunny?
